CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOL, WHITECHAPEL
Refurbishing the administrative offices of this historic school at Brick Lane was challenging but ultimately satisfying. Geomatrix was commissioned to carry out an extensive remodelling of the administrative complex right from the reception area.
Natural oak was adopted to give the old premises character and warmth, and it worked beautifully, especially against the backdrop of white painted brick walls.
The richness of the wood, finished in Danish oil, was accentuated by the movement of the grain, viewed in conjunction with the light and airy nature of the extensive glazing.
